All of life is learning. Want to connect to the language of our people and participate more at services? Want to live a more spiritual life or know more about Judaism and G-d. Learn at your own pace with the Simchat HaLev teaching team. Individual instruction is available in reading Hebrew, learning Jewish traditions, the prayers, songs and melodies of our people. Let Rabbi Jay create that journey of learning with you. One never knows, your discovery may result in you becoming an Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah or living a more committed spiritual life.
Institute of Adult Jewish Studies
Each academic year Rabbi Jay teaches an eight or 8 week workshop at the Institute. The workshop is engaging and the material practical. This year Rabbi Jay is teaching a course entitled " Ani Tifilati - I am My Prayer - Sing Unto Gd". Together, we will learn how to chant modern melodies and ancient niggunim in Hebrew and in English. Reduce stress, have fun, nourish your soul, and learn how to access your inner voice and G-d. There are 8 classes. Each week we will learn new melodies and we will add them to our repertoire. Chants can be used to pray for healing, hope, and patience and to thank G-d for the many blessings that we sometimes take for granted. Knowledge of Hebrew is not required (transliteration and translation will be provided), nor is an ability to sing well. Chanting is different than singing. Anyone can do it, even if the chorus teacher may have told you to just move your lips. Pre-requisite: Open heart, desire to reduce stress, have fun and access G-d in a new way. Classes are held at Plainview Jewish Center. Following each class, there is a lecture - go to: www.iajs.org for schedule of speakers. Cost $35.00 per person for entire program. If interested, it is not too late. Call Jenn today at 516-922-4224 ext. 18.
Do you feel you are learning challenged, have a complex schedule, or need special attention? No problem. I believe we will be able to help.
